JOHN BALIOTTI covers the industrial/conglomerates sector at Fulcrum
Global Partners. Before joining Fulcrum Global Partners, he was a senior
research analyst at UBS covering the electrical equipment sector from
1999 to 2003. Prior to UBS, Mr. Baliotti was a research associate at
Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, covering the electrical equipment sector.
He was employed at Sikorsky Aircraft (a division of United Technologies)
as a design engineer from 1991 to 1997. He holds an MBA in Finance and
Marketing from the University of Connecticut and a BS in Mechanical
Engineering from Lehigh University.
JOHN B. COATES is the Satellite Services Analyst in the Equity Research
Department of Salomon Smith Barney. A Chartered Financial Analyst, his
prior experience includes research positions at JP Morgan Securities and
JP Morgan Investment. Mr. Coates earned an MBA with Honors from Columbia
Business School and a BA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
JOHN A. CLARKE is a Senior Oil and Gas Analyst at Deutsche Bank
Securities. Previously, he was associated with Upstream and Down-stream
sectors as well as Strategic & Corporate Planning. He received his B.Sc.
degree in Physics from the University of Birmingham and his B.A. in
English from Calgary University as well as a Master’s degree in
Operations Research and Management Sciences from Imperial College. Mr.
Clarke is President of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Investment
Analysts and a member of the AAPG, SEG, and CSEG. Mr. Clarke is married,
has two children, and includes skiing, bridge, theater and foreign
travel among his personal interests.
Joel Simkins is a Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Discretionary & Healthcare Research at Macquarie Capital (USA). In 2009 Institutional Investor named Mr. Simkins one of the best up-and-coming gaming and lodging analysts on Wall Street. Prior to joining Macquarie in 2007, Mr. Simkins was a Senior Vice President and Senior Gaming & Leisure Analyst at Prudential Equity Group. From 2003 to 2006, he managed a long/short investment portfolio at Slater Capital Management, a consumer hedge fund. Mr. Simkins previously worked as an Associate Analyst at Deutsche Bank Securities and Bear Stearns on a number of Institutional Investor-ranked gaming and lodging equity and fixed income research teams.Steven M. Wieczynski is a Principal of Equity Research at Stifel Nicolaus & Company, where he is the firm’s Leisure and Gaming Equipment Research Analyst. Mr. Wieczynski joined the Stifel Nicolaus research team in connection with Stifel’s acquisition of Legg Mason’s Capital Markets Group in December of 2005; he joined Legg Mason in December 2000. Prior to initiating coverage of the gaming/casino industry in May 2004, he worked as an Associate Analyst in the industrial group, covering homebuilding and construction material companies. Before joining Stifel Nicolaus, Mr. Wieczynski worked at T. Rowe Price Associates for two years in their investment-grade research department. Mr. Wieczynski received a B.S. in finance and accounting from Clemson University. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Baltimore Security Analysts Society.
JOEL J. HOUCK, Vice President, joined A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. in 1997.
His previous work experience includes six years in the commercial
banking industry, three years at PNC Bank, and three years at Boatman’s
Bancshares in various commercial lending and credit capacities. He
ranked Number One in The Wall Street Journal Best on the Street Survey
in 2001 for stock picking and placed in the top five in 2000 and 2001
for earnings estimate accuracy. He currently follows specialty finance
companies and related industries (consumer finance, commercial finance,
credit cards, and mortgage). A Chartered Financial Analyst, Mr. Houck
received an MBA from Miami University. In his spare time, Mr. Houck
likes to spend time with his wife and four children. Occasionally he
golfs, but his handicap remains undisclosed.
JOE FOSTER is a Portfolio Manager for Van Eck International Investors
Gold Fund. He was previously associated with Atlas Minerals in Green
River, Utah and has since worked for several precious metals mining and
exploration companies based in the western US Prior to joining Van Eck,
Mr. Foster was employed at the Geology Department for Pinson Mining
Company in Winnemucca, Nevada. He received a BS in Geology from
Tennessee Technological University, an MS in Geology from the Mackay
School of Mines and an MBA from the University of Nevada.
JOAN SOLOTAR is Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston Corp.
She is currently a member of the Financial Services Research Team at
CSFB, following the merger with DLJ. In 1989, she joined DLJ where she
worked for 11 years. Prior to joining DLJ, Ms. Solotar was with The
First Boston Corporation. She has more than a decade of experience
covering brokerage, market structure and asset management companies. Ms.
Solotar is currently Chairperson of the Research Analysis and Financial
Services Planning Committee 2001 of the Securities Industry Association.
She has been a member of Institutional Investor’s ‘All-America Research
Team’ for the past seven consecutive years: 1995-2001. In the latest
poll, Ms. Solotar was a runner-up in the ‘Brokers and Asset Managers’
category. Ms. Solotar ranked number three in the most recent Reuters
Large Cap Company Survey published March 2001 and was the number three
ranked Equity Analyst in Greenwich Research’s 2000 survey. Ms. Solotar
has also been a top-ranked analyst in The Wall Street Journal’s annual
stock picking survey several times.
JOAN L. BOGUCKI-STORMS, CFA, is a Vice President at Wedbush Morgan
Securities, specializing in following companies in the retail sector
with a focus on specialty hard goods. She was previously associated with
Needham & Company where she worked on the Consumer/Retail team and also
followed specialty hard goods retailers. Ms. Bogucki-Storms received a
BA in Economics and Business Administration from Eckerd College and an
MBA from the University of Notre Dame Graduate School of Business.
JOAN GOODMAN is an Investment Research Analyst at Pershing. Previously,
she was associated with AG Becker & Company. She received her
Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from Roosevelt University
and also attended the Art Institute of Chicago where she concentrated on
interior design. Ms. Goodman is a member of the Investment Analysts
Society of Chicago and Financial Women in Banking. She is also the
Chairman of the Financial Stock Association of Chicago and Vice Chairman
of the Chicago Woman’s Club. Ms. Goodman is a guest speaker on call at
Roosevelt University and Kenwood Academy.
JIM REDDOCH is a Healthcare Senior Analyst at Friedman, Billings, Ramsey
Group, Inc., and follows companies that are developing new, cutting-edge
therapies for diseases such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis,
AIDS, and hepatitis C. Dr. Reddoch joined FBR in May 2003, after five
years of covering the biotech industry, most recently at Banc of America
Securities. As a Senior Analyst, he was known for his new methodologies
for valuing the early-stage products of young companies, his concerns
about the valuations of some genomics companies, as well as his ability
to identify and rank upcoming, stock-moving events in the biotech space.
Prior to venturing into finance, Dr. Reddoch was a postdoctoral fellow
at Yale University School of Medicine in the department of Therapeutic
Radiology, where his project focused on the relationship between genetic
mutations and cancer. During his time at Yale, Dr. Reddoch also served
as a consultant for the school’s technology transfer arm. He received
his PhD in biochemistry and molecular genetics from the University of
Alabama Medical School, where he founded the Industry Roundtable, now in
its eighth year ‘ which features speakers in finance, law, and health
care. Dr. Reddoch’s undergraduate degree, from Furman University, is in
Political Science.
