Joseph W. Garner is Director of Research and a member of the Small Cap Growth Portfolio Management team at Emerald Advisers LLC, and he is also a Portfolio Manager of the Emerald Growth Fund. Mr. Garner’s research is focused on small and midsize firms in the business services, capital goods, consumer, financial services and technology sectors. In 1997, he was named as a “Home-Run Hitter” by Institutional Investor magazine and has appeared on Bloomberg Television and CNBC. He also has been quoted in Fortune, Bloomberg Business News, USA Today, Dow Jones News Service, Standard & Poor’s, MarketWatch, Investor’s Business Daily, The Wall Street Journal and other media. Mr. Garner is a director for the Millersville University Foundation and Chairman of the investment committee, and previously was the President of the board of directors for the foundation. Prior to joining Emerald in 1994, Mr. Garner was the Program Manager of the PA Economic Development Financing Authority — PEDFA — and an economic development analyst with the PA Department of Commerce’s Office of Technology Development. Mr. Garner graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in economics from Millersville University and received an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
Thomas G. Kahn, CFA, is President at Kahn Brothers Group, Inc.; President, CIO and Lead Portfolio Manager at Kahn Brothers Advisors LLC; and President at Kahn Brothers LLC. He is on the board of directors of JBI International, Inc., Lighthouse Guild, Ackerman Institute for the Family and American Federation for Aging Research. Mr. Kahn has over 48 years of industry experience and is a leading practitioner in the field of value investing. Mr. Kahn co-founded Kahn Brothers Advisors in July 1978. He received a B.A. from Cornell University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Bryan C. Hinmon, CFA, is the Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager at Motley Fool Asset Management, LLC, having served in the CIO capacity since 2017 and as a Portfolio Manager for the Global Opportunities Fund, Small-Mid Cap Growth Fund and Emerging Markets Fund since 2014. As CIO of the firm, Mr. Hinmon is responsible for leading the investment team, maintaining the firm’s investment philosophy and managing greater than $2.5 billion — as of August 2018 — in client assets. He also works as an analyst, identifying and researching investments for the firm’s affiliate, Motley Fool Wealth Management’s separately managed account strategies. He joined the adviser in 2014 as Director of Research, responsible for leading the investment team process of sharing research and choosing which companies to invest in. Previously, Mr. Hinmon worked for the parent company of the adviser, The Motley Fool, LLC, for more than four years. He helped manage internal capital for Motley Fool Pro, a service whose strategy embraces long/short equities and options. Mr. Hinmon also served as a senior analyst on Motley Fool Options for more than four years and led the company’s Analyst Development Program for two years. Before life at The Motley Fool, Mr. Hinmon was a portfolio manager at Bulwark Capital Management, a hedge fund with an approach that balanced fundamental long-term equity investing, option income and special situations. Earlier in his career, he worked as a research analyst for an asset manager in Naples, Florida, that provided portfolio management and operated a covered-call hedge fund. In total, Mr. Hinmon has been investing professionally for more than 15 years. He is a graduate of Stetson University with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society.
Harry Fraser is a Portfolio Manager at Oldfield Partners LLP based in London. He has been with the firm since 2011 and manages the Overstone Smaller Companies Fund using a value-investment style. A holder of the IMC, Mr. Fraser graduated from the University of Newcastle where he studied archaeology and ancient history.
Tony Coniaris is a Partner, Co-Chairman, Portfolio Manager and U.S. Investment Analyst at Harris Associates. He is currently a co-manager of the Oakmark Select Fund (MUTF:OAKLX), the Oakmark Global Fund (MUTF:OAKGX) and the Oakmark Global Select Fund (MUTF:OAKWX). Mr. Coniaris joined the firm in 1999, previously serving as both an Associate Analyst and Research Associate at Harris. He earned a B.A. from Wheaton College in 1999 and an MBA from Northwestern University in 2005.
Michelle Stevens, CFA, is Senior Portfolio Manager and Managing Director at Baird Equity Asset Management. Ms. Stevens has 22 years of investment industry experience, having managed mutual funds, subadvised funds and institutional separate accounts in the small, small/mid — smid — and all-cap value equity disciplines. She holds an MBA from the University of Cincinnati and received her bachelor’s degree in economics from Wittenberg University.
Leo Grohowski is Chief Investment Officer of BNY Mellon Wealth Management. He leads all investment strategy and investment management functions for the wealth management organization and is Chairman of the Investment Policy Committee. Earlier, he worked for U.S. Trust, Bank of America, where he was Chief Investment Officer, responsible for investment solutions and the end-to-end investment process, including portfolio management and investment strategy for Private Wealth Management clients. Prior to his role at U.S. Trust, he was the Chief Investment Officer for Deutsche Bank in the Americas, overseeing more than $250 billion in assets. From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Grohowski was Chief Investment Officer of Deutsche Bank Private Banking, serving as Chairman of the Global Markets Strategy Committee and Domestic Investment Strategy group, and head of Investment Products and Services for the DB Alex Brown unit. Mr. Grohowski received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Drew University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He serves as President for Mellon Hedge Fund Advisors, LLC. He also has served on the board of trustees at Drew University for 12 years and chaired their investment committee.
William Bales serves as Portfolio Manager and member of Bullseye Asset Management LLC. He previously served as the Portfolio Manager at Janus Capital Management responsible for the Janus Venture Fund and separately managed portfolios in the small-cap growth discipline. Mr. Bales joined Janus Capital Management in 1991 and became an analyst in 1993. He served as co-manager of the Janus Venture Fund from 1997 and became the sole portfolio manager in January 2001. Mr. Bales was selected as one of Barron’s Top 100 Fund Managers in 2001 and 2005, and received multiple awards from Lipper in 2008 for “Best Fund over 5 Years” and “Best Fund over 3 Years.” Mr. Bales was featured in Investor’s Business Daily in February 2007 under “Mutual Fund Profile.” He received a Master of Science degree in marketing and finance and a Bachelor of Science in marketing from the University of Colorado. Mr. Bales has been in the investment industry since 1992.
Frank Ossino is Senior Managing Director, Senior Portfolio Manager and Sector Head of Newfleet Asset Management, LLC. Mr. Ossino serves as a Senior Portfolio Manager of Newfleet’s Floating Rate Bank Loan, High Yield, and Flexible Credit Strategies in both separately managed and pooled vehicles as well as mutual fund and ETF formats through a number of subadvisory relationships. Additionally, Mr. Ossino is responsible for the structuring and management of Newfleet’s CLO platform. Prior to joining Newfleet in 2012, Mr. Ossino was a Portfolio Manager at Harford Investment Management Company from 2004 to 2011 and Hartford Funds subadviser Wellington Management in 2012, where he managed mutual funds focused on bank loans and a commingled bank loan portfolio for institutional investors. Previously, he held a variety of credit analyst and portfolio management positions at CIGNA from 2002 to 2004, HVB Bank from 2000 to 2002 and FleetBoston Financial from 1996 to 2000. Mr. Ossino earned his M.S. in international economics and finance from Brandeis University and Luigi Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, and a B.S. in economics, cum laude, from Brandeis University. He began his career in the investment industry in 1996.
Sorin Roibu, CFA, is Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst of Brandywine Global Investment Management, LLC. Mr. Roibu co-manages Brandywine Global’s Global and International Opportunistic Equity strategies. He is responsible for research coverage of U.S. and global financial companies. Prior to joining Brandywine Global in May 2014, Mr. Roibu was a global equity analyst and Principal of Turner Investment Partners from 2011 to 2014 with a focus on global real estate, U.S. REITs, U.S. homebuilders and emerging-market banks; Senior Research Analyst, Vice President at Blackrock on their Global Opportunities team covering global financials from 2005 to 2011; and an investment banking analyst for Bank of America Securities from 2004 to 2005. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in business administration from Drexel University and studied at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova. Mr. Roibu is a CFA charterholder.
