Marvin Appel – Appel Asset Management Corporation

MARVIN APPEL is the CEO of Appel Asset Management Corporation in Great Neck, New York, a position he has held since 1996. He received an AB Degree in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College in 1984 and earned the MD degree from Harvard in 1991. Concurrently with his medical studies, Dr. Appel pursued graduate research on the application of computerized data analysis to the understanding of heart disease and normal circulatory system behavior, earning a PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 1992. After graduating from medical school, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and a residency in Anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins. In 1995, Dr. Appel decided to leave medicine and pursue a career in money management, a business that had been in the family for more than 20 years. With his wife and two daughters, he returned to his home town of Great Neck to assume the full-time management of Appel Asset Management Corporation. A Contributing Editor to Physician's Money Digest, Dr. Appel has been applying his expertise in computer research and mathematical modeling to the analyses of stock market timing and asset allocation. In this regard, he has been developing strategies to reduce risk in aggressive mutual fund portfolios through optimum diversification and has been developing timing models designed to take advantage of shifting relative strength among various market sectors. In another area, he has also been developing strategies for value stock selection through a combination of fundamental valuation criteria and market timing. assets in diversified portfolios of mostly equity
