MARVIN APPEL is the CEO of Appel Asset Management Corporation in Great
Neck, New York, a position he has held since 1996. He received an AB
Degree in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College in 1984 and earned
the MD degree from Harvard in 1991. Concurrently with his medical
studies, Dr. Appel pursued graduate research on the application of

a business that had been in the family for more than 20 years. With his
wife and two daughters, he returned to his home town of Great Neck to
assume the full-time management of Appel Asset Management Corporation. A
Contributing Editor to Physician’s Money Digest, Dr. Appel has been
applying his expertise in computer research and mathematical modeling to
the analyses of stock market timing and asset allocation. In this
regard, he has been developing strategies to reduce risk in aggressive
mutual fund portfolios through optimum diversification and has been
developing timing models designed to take advantage of shifting relative
strength among various market sectors. In another area, he has also been
developing strategies for value stock selection through a combination of
fundamental valuation criteria and market timing. In his free time, Dr.
Appel enjoys music, sailing, playing tennis and spending time with his
family.
