JOHN M. VAN BRUNT is Vice Chairman and CEO of Agrium Inc. (formerly known as Cominco Fertilizers Ltd.) since the company was spun off by Cominco Ltd. and listed as a public company in 1993. A graduate of Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mr. Van Brunt joined Cominco in 1965 and has spent his entire career with the Cominco/Agrium organization. His assignments included increasingly responsible managerial positions in various company facilities in Trail, British Columbia; Vancouver, British Columbia; Vanscoy, Saskatchewan; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; and Calgary, Alberta. Mr. Van Brunt is a Director of Agrium Inc.; President of the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA); Director and Past Chairman of Canpotex Ltd.; Director and Past Chairman of The Potash & Phosphate Institute (PPI) in the United States and Director and Chairman of The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) also in the United States.
