Michael Nicolas has been a co-manager of the Oakmark Fund since 2020. He is also an investment analyst at Harris Associates and a VP of the Oakmark Funds. He started at Harris Associates in 2013 after serving as a managing director at Lakeview Investment Group. Prior to that, he was a senior analyst at Stratford Advisory Group. Mr. Nicolas earned a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2002).
Robert Robotti is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Robotti & Company Advisors and has been since inception in 1983. Previously, he was VP and a shareholder of Gabelli & Company. Mr. Robotti received a bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and an MBA in accounting from Pace University. Mr. Robotti also is a board member of PrairieSky, AMREP and board Chair of Pulse Seismic. Previously, he was a board member of BMC and also chaired the finance committee prior to its acquisition of Stock Building Supply. Mr. Robotti is also active in not-for-profit volunteerism, including service on the board of Pace University where he is Chair of the investment and pension committee.
Keith Hembre is Co-Principal and Chief Investment Officer at Liniam Capital. He has 25 years of financial market experience. Earlier, he was Chief Economist and Investment Strategist, and Head of Quantitative Strategies for Nuveen Asset Management. He has been a member of the American Bankers Association Economic Advisory Committee and was named the most accurate economic forecaster by Businessweek magazine in 2007. He received a Master of Science degree in economics from Baylor University, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota with majors in economics and political science, and is a CFA charterholder.
Gregory Powell was named Chief Investment Officer at Miller/Howard Investments in 2020. He oversees the portfolio management team and is the designated lead or co-lead Portfolio Manager on the firm’s core strategies. In addition, he holds a position on Miller/Howard’s executive committee. Mr. Powell joined Miller/Howard in 2017 as a portfolio manager and Deputy Chief Investment Officer. He was promoted to CIO in 2020, after the retirement of Founder Lowell Miller. Earlier, he was a portfolio manager and director of research at AllianceBernstein. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics/mathematics from the University of California Santa Barbara, and a Ph.D. and M.A. in economics from Northwestern University.
Nicholas J. Westrick, CFA, is Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Stewart Capital Advisors, LLC. He is the lead analyst for consumer discretionary and technology and often works closely on evaluations of telecommunications companies. Previously, he was a credit analyst for S&T Bank. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Ohio State University.
John Kartsonas serves as ETF Managers Group, LLC’s Dry Bulk Shipping Expert and Partner in the BDRY ETF, the first and only freight futures exchange-traded product exclusively focusing on dry bulk shipping. From 2011 to 2017, Mr. Kartsonas was a senior portfolio manager at Carlyle Commodity Management, a commodity-focused investment firm based in New York and part of the Carlyle Group. He was responsible for the firm’s shipping and freight investments. During his tenure, he managed one of the largest freight futures funds globally. Prior to this role, Mr. Kartsonas was a co-founder and portfolio manager of Sea Advisors Fund, an investment fund focused on shipping. From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Kartsonas was the leading Transportation Analyst at Citi Investment Research covering the broader transportation space including shipping. Prior to that, Mr. Kartsonas was an equity analyst focusing on shipping and energy for Standard & Poor’s Investment Research. He sits on the board of Seanergy Maritime, a publicly traded dry bulk shipping company. He received his MBA from the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester.
Matthew Breidert joined Ecofin in 2006 and is a Senior Portfolio Manager overseeing sustainable, impact and ESG strategies, both long-only and long/short, at TortoiseEcofin. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Breidert was an assistant portfolio manager at Millennium Partners, based in New York. Previously, he was an investment banker with SG Barr Devlin, a division of Societe Generale, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and financial advisory to global utilities and power companies. Prior to that, he worked at Cornerstone Energy Advisers and FT Energy/RDI in Boulder, Colorado, where he focused on energy and utility‐focused economic policy. Mr. Breidert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in ecology from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
Eve Lando is Portfolio Manager and Managing Director of Thornburg Investment Management. Ms. Lando joined Thornburg’s municipal team in 2019 as associate portfolio manager and was named portfolio manager in 2020. Ms. Lando holds a B.A. in urban studies from Columbia University and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, with a concentration in business law studies. She has extensive experience in municipal bond research and analysis, with particular focus on deal structures and legal covenants. Ms. Lando has covered sectors such as state and local government finance, public power, essential services, health care and higher education, across the investment-grade and high yield spectrum. Prior to joining Thornburg, she worked for over 14 years at Lazard Asset Management, most recently as a senior vice president and municipal research analyst, and before that, she was a municipal research associate at AllianceBernstein. Ms. Lando is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Municipal Analysts Group of New York and is fluent in Russian, Italian and English.
David Ashley, CFA, is Portfolio Manager and Managing Director of Thornburg Investment Management. He joined Thornburg as associate portfolio manager in 2011 and was named portfolio manager in 2019. Mr. Ashley earned a B.S. in finance and MBA from the University of Delaware in 2001. He is also a CFA charterholder. Prior to joining Thornburg Investment Management, Mr. Ashley was a credit analyst for Wilmington Trust in Delaware.
Brian Presti, CFA, is a Senior Portfolio Manager and the Director of Portfolio Strategy at The Colony Group. As the Director of Portfolio Strategy at The Colony Group, Mr. Presti assesses macroeconomic, financial market data and trends to determine appropriate investment opportunities and asset allocation. During his 20-year career, Mr. Presti has held many positions, including most recently Chief Investment Officer at Harvest Capital Management prior to their merger with The Colony Group in 2019. Previously, he was with DL Carlson Investment Group managing portfolios for institutions, private clients and their families. While at Carlson, Mr. Presti also covered several sectors of the equity market. Mr. Presti has also worked at Fidelity and Charles Schwab and brings with him a passion for investing and a strong commitment to improve the financial well-being of clients and their families. Mr. Presti is actively involved with the New Hampshire Endowment for Health, where he is Treasurer, a member of the board of directors and Chair of both the investment and finance committees. He graduated from Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. In addition, he earned his Chartered SRI Counselor and Chartered Financial Analyst — CFA — designation in 2005. Outside of the office, Mr. Presti enjoys running; traveling, especially to tropical destinations; spending time with his family; and watching college sports, basketball and football. He is also an avid music lover and owns a large collection of music, including an extensive vinyl collection. Mr. Presti likes to read short stories, particularly the works of Junot Diaz, Russell Banks and T. Coraghessan Boyle. Mr. Presti is currently a coach in the Granite State Track and Field program.
