William Klein – Marshall & Ilsley Bank (mi)

WILLIAM J. KLEIN was named President of the Minnesota regional operations of Marshall & Ilsley Bank in August 2001, after Milwaukee-based Marshall & Ilsley Corporation acquired National City Bank of Minneapolis, where he was Executive Vice President. Over 15 years, he built National City's professional banking business from $3 million to $50 million, and its private banking revenues from $13 million to $60 million; reorganized the community banking division and created a small and emerging business discipline; reorganized the bank's non-deposit sales delivery process; and consolidated business banking, community banking and trust services to create a client services division. In addition to heading up M&I Bank's Minnesota regional operations, Mr. Klein is Chairman of the M&I Regional Credit Committee and is serving on the Boards of both the Greater Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce and the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA). Mr. Klein is a graduate of Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota, and the Executive Development Programs I and II at Wharton School.
