Lawrence E. Honig – Edison Brothers Stores (edbr)

LAWRENCE E. HONIG is Chairman and CEO of Edison Brothers Stores, Inc. headquartered in St. Louis, MO. Previously, Mr. Honig spent 10 years with The May Department Stores Company based in St. Louis. He joined the company as an Executive Vice President and then spent six years as Vice President and a member of its Board of Directors. He oversaw several of the company's store divisions, spearheaded a series of mergers, directed strategic planning and merchandising efforts, and initiated a number of corporate-level human resources programs. From 1994 to 1996, Honig served as division president and CEO of Federated Department Systems Group in Atlanta and as chief information officer for its parent company. There he was responsible for all of the company's computer operations, management information systems, telecommunications, point- of-sale equipment operations and application development. Prior to his career in retail, Mr. Honig was a partner and principal in the Chicago office of McKinsey & Company, Inc., a leading international management consulting firm. His seven years there included the development and management of programs focused on strategic, organizational and marketing issues for the client companies in retailing, packaged goods, advertising and food manufacturing. Mr. Honig holds a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an M.A. in Communication from the University of Texas, Austin. He earned undergraduate degrees in Commerce and American History at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA. Mr. Honig: Edison Brothers operates seven mall-based chain stores with

some of them in strip centers. We have about 1,600
