WILLIAM H. WELLING became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of @Comm
Corporation in 1989 (when the company was known as Xiox Corporation).
Previously, he was Managing Partner of Venture Growth Associates, a
partnership founded in 1983 to invest in both public and private
companies. Some of the private investments included Altera Corporation,
AMCC Corporation, Dallas Semiconductor, Maxtor Corporation, and
Molecular Devices. From 1977 to 1982, Mr. Welling served as President of
Marshall Industries, where he restructured and turned the electronic
components distributor around. Prior to this, he was a Securities
Analyst with Crowell Weedon and then Shuman Agnew from 1969 to 1977
until the firm was sold to Morgan Stanley. Mr. Welling began his career
in electronics at Fairchild Semiconductor, where he held numerous sales
and management positions. Mr. Welling has a BSME from Marquette
