Venture Capital Investment In Wi-fi: R.theis – Dmc-doll Capital / D.klein – Vernier Networks Inc

ROBERT I. THEIS, a General Partner at DCM-Doll Capital Management, brings 20 years of business contacts, relationships and executive management expertise from his leadership positions at explosive growth companies like New Era of Networks, Sun Microsystems, and Silicon Graphics. Before joining DCM, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for New Era of Networks (NEON). During his four-year tenure, he held a wide range of executive operational roles, from corporate and business development to mergers and acquisitions, sales management and worldwide marketing. Mr. Theis was instrumental in leading NEON through a successful IPO, multiple rounds of corporate financing, and grew the company to over $200 million in revenues. Prior to NEON, he spent 10 years at Sun Microsystems, where he carried out successful growth strategies in a variety of senior management roles. As Managing Director of Sun's Worldwide Financial Services Group, Mr. Theis grew Sun's revenue growth in the financial services sector to over $1 billion in three years; as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Asia Pacific region, Mr. Theis managed business operations and achieved a 200% annual growth rate. In his early years at Sun, Mr. Theis managed and developed Sun's computer business in the CAE/CAD/CAM and manufacturing markets to $400 million in four years. He spent his early career as a Marketing Programs Manager at Silicon Graphics, where he developed product strategy, marketing programs and launched SGI's workstations; and in sales at McDonnell Douglas Corporation (Boeing). DOUGLAS H. KLEIN, Chief Executive Officer of Vernier Networks, Inc., served as Vice President Operations for Packet Design prior to joining Vernier Networks. Before Packet Design, Mr. Klein served as President and Chief Operating Officer for NuvoMedia, Inc., the developer of the Rocket eBook handheld electronic reading device, which was acquired by Gemstar-TV Guide International in January 2000. He also spent 10 years at Network Computing Devices, where he had direct management responsibilities for all NCD engineering, program management and service and support.
