Robert A. Schwed is a Senior Partner in the Corporate Department of Hale
and Dorr LLP in the New York office. Mr. Schwed specializes in working
with private equity firms and their portfolio companies in corporate
finance transactions. Mr. Schwed joined Hale and Dorr after 24 years in
the New York office of Reboul, MacMurray, Hewitt & Maynard. He has been
actively engaged in the private equity industry throughout his career,
representing venture capital and buyout firms, and other institutional
investors in equity and subordinated debt investments, public and
private buyout transactions and workouts, recapitalizations and other
restructurings. Mr. Schwed has also represented the portfolio companies
of private equity firms in public and private financing transactions,
and mergers and acquisition activities. He has also acted as counsel to
various startup ventures and to the issuer or to the underwriters in
initial public offerings for software, Internet, biotechnology, airline,
healthcare, information services and other companies. Mr. Schwed
received his JD from Harvard University, magna cum laude, and received
his BA from Williams College, cum laude, where he is a member of Phi
Beta Kappa. Mr. Schwed is a member of the Board of Directors at Project
Reach Youth in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Schwed is admitted to the bar in
