Thomas H. Mcauley – Irt Property Company (irt)

THOMAS H. MCAULEY is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IRT Property Company, an Atlanta-based real estate investment trust. He joined IRT in October 1995 after serving on its Board of Directors since 1987. Prior to this position, he was a regional partner with Faison and Associates, a Charlotte-based real estate management and development company which was the successor by purchase of Ewing Southeast Realty where he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. McAuley attended the University of North Carolina and graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in real estate and accounting. He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He began his real estate career in 1977 as a commercial mortgage broker for a large regional bank. In 1980, he founded Southeast Realty Resources and in 1984 merged the company with J.H. Ewing & Sons, a seventy-two year old Atlanta real estate company, creating Ewing Southeast Realty, Inc. which was acquired later that year by Johnstown American Companies, one of the nation's largest publicly traded real estate management companies, where he became Chief Operating Officer and a trustee. In 1988, he repurchased Ewing from Johnstown and, in 1993, sold it to Faison and Associates. Mr. McAuley was also founding director of American Income Properties, L.P., a master limited partnership traded on the American Stock Exchange.
