Steven Starliper – Oresis Communications Inc

STEVEN K. STARLIPER is Vice President, Marketing, for Oresis Communications, Inc., which develops next-generation, carrier-class switching products designed to simplify internetworking for carriers and service providers in the global telecommunications market. He is responsible for driving the company's positioning in the marketplace, as well as overseeing all corporate and product marketing duties. Before joining Oresis, Mr. Starliper spent several years at Qwest communications, most recently as Vice President in charge of deploying high-speed Internet services in 25 cities by year-end 2001. Before that, he was Vice President of the Qwest Small Business Group, a $2 billion business unit serving 800,000 customers in 14 states. In this position, Mr. Starliper managed a budget of $200 million and 1,700 employees in sales and service, collections, marketing, product management and finance. He assumed this position in August 1998 after serving as Vice President of Marketing for the Small Business Group since 1997. Mr. Starliper joined Qwest in 1993 as Director for Data Product Management for !NTERPRISE Networking. In 1995, he was named Executive Director of Internet Services for !NTERPRISE and became the Vice President of Marketing a year later. Previously, Mr. Starliper headed up wide area networking (WAN) product management from 1992 to 1993 for Wellfleet, a manufacturer of data communications equipment. He was also with Pacific Bell from 1986 to 1992. His last position at PacBell was Director of Fast Packet Services. Mr. Starliper is an active member of the Santa Clara alumni association and volunteers in his community. He was a member of the ATM and Frame Relay forums. He has spoken at Interop, a major telecommunications trade show, which also published one of his articles. Mr. Starliper received his MBA Cum Laude in Telecommunications from Golden Gate University in San Francisco in 1988. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree Magna Cum Laude in Marketing from Santa Clara University in 1983. In 1991, he received a certificate in telecommunications from Carnegie Mellon University.
