STEVEN M. BAUMAN, President and CEO of VINA Technologies since August
1999. He has over 30 years of industry experience. He came to VINA after
serving for one year as a principal at GeoPartners Research Inc., a
Cambridge, Mass.-based consultancy, where he provided strategic insight
and helped client companies create new business models to enhance their
competitiveness in the global marketplace. Prior to joining GeoPartners
Research, Bauman was 3Com's Vice President/General Manager, Network
Systems Division, and then Vice President, Virtual Private Networks. In
his final assignment for AT&T Bell Laboratories as executive director of
the Small Business Computer Systems Division, Mr. Bauman was responsible
for strategy, product management and development of PC workstation and
LAN products. While at Bell Labs, he was prominent in the leadership
team which conceived, designed and developed products, including the
highly successful 5ESS Digital local/toll switching system. As
director, Local Digital Switching Applications Lab, Mr. Bauman was
responsible for the architecture and development of the Software
Development and Test System for the 5ESS. Profile
