Stephen W. Sanger – General Mills (gis)

STEPHEN W. SANGER became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Mills on May 28, 1995. Mr. Sanger joined General Mills in 1974 and progressed through a variety of positions in marketing management across the company's consumer food business, including President of the Big G Cereal Division and President of Yoplait USA. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1992 and was named President of General Mills in October 1993. Mr. Sanger is a Director of Dayton-Hudson Corporation, the Donaldson Company, Grocery Manufacturers of America, and the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. He is President of the Board at the Guthrie Theater and Chairman of the Minnesota Business Partnership. In addition, Mr. Sanger is a trustee of the Conference Board, the Committee for Economic Development and a member of the Board of Advisors of the Retail Food Industry Center. He received a Bachelor's degree in history from DePaul University in 1968 and an MBA from the University of Michigan in 1970.
