Stephen Joffe – Lca-vision Inc (lcav)

STEPHEN JOFFE, M.D., F.A.C.S., is President and CEO of LCA-Vision Inc. He obtained his medical degree in 1967 from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa), and was awarded a postgraduate doctorate degree in 1976. He has held faculty appointments at the Universities of London, Glasgow, and Cincinnati, and holds fellowships of the College of Surgeons of South Africa, the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Joffe held the position of Full Professor of Surgery and Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for over nine years and is currently the Esteemed Quondam Professor of Surgery and Medicine. Having led in the development of "contact" laser surgery, he founded Surgical Laser Technologies, Inc., in 1983 to execute research, development and manufacturing of equipment for contact laser surgery. He was Chairman of the Board and Director of that Company through 1989. Dr. Joffe founded LCA-Vision in 1986 in an effort to expand applications for minimally invasive surgery in many different modalities. In 1995, the company did a reverse merger, and is now LCA-Vision Inc. (NASDAQ LCAV). Dr. Joffe remains President and Chief Executive Officer. He has authorized over 170 papers in scientific and technical journals, has contributed to over 35 textbooks, and has presented over 220 papers before scientific societies in 22 countries throughout the world.
