STANLEY R. ZAX is Chairman, President and CEO of Zenith National
Insurance Corp. He joined Zenith in 1977 as Chairman of the Board, and
in 1978 was named President and CEO. Mr. Zax previously was a Partner in
Wyman, Bautzer, Rothman & Kuchel, a Washington, DC law firm specializing
in corporate, finance and governmental law. Other previous positions
include President and CEO of Great American Insurance Companies and its
subsidiaries; Senior Vice President, Director and General Counsel of
National General Corporation; Vice President, Secretary and General
Counsel of Hilton Hotels Corporation, as well as Vice Chairman of
International Leisure Corporation, operator of the Las Vegas Hilton; and
Associate and Partner in the law firm of Friedman, Mulligan, Dillon &
Uris (now known as Friedman & Koven). Mr. Zax is also currently a
Director of Perma-Built, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zenith National
Insurance; Commissioner of The Little Hoover Commission, a bipartisan,
independent California state body; and Non-Executive Director of Advent
Capital (Holdings) Plc in London. A member of the American Bar
Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar
Association, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Board of Governors and the
Center for the Study of the Presidency in Washington, DC, Mr. Zax
received both his BBA and JD degrees from the University of Michigan in
