SHOBA PURUSHOTHAMAN is President and Chief Executive Officer of
TheNewsMarket, Inc. Shoba has 20 years of experience in the news and
marketing industries. She was a business journalist for nine years,
including at the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones in Washington D.C.,
New York and London. The NewsMarket is her second enterprise in the news
and marketing industry with her co-founder, Anthony Hayward. Their first
company, a broadcast consultancy, was created in 1989 in London and grew
to become a leading global broadcast public relations consultancy with
operations across Europe, Asia and the U.S. It was successfully acquired
in 2001 by a publicly-listed, top-ten global marketing group. Shoba and
Anthony co-founded The NewsMarket in 2000 to leverage the emerging
digital technologies that are transforming how the marketing industry
interacts with the news media. The NewsMarket began generating revenue
from Fortune 500 clients in January 2001 and today boasts a top-drawer
global customer list. The venture-backed company, a leader in digital
media, is headquartered in New York with operations in Europe and Asia.
Shoba completed a BA in English Literature and Japanese language from
Monash University (Melbourne, Australia), an MA in Economic
Communication from American University (Washington D.C.) and is a 2000
graduate of the Owner-President Management program at Harvard Business
