PETER J. BARRY is a Managing Director, Small Companies at Bear,
Stearns & Co. Prior to joining Bear, Stearns in September 1997,
he was associated with Deutsche Banc for approximately four years
with responsibility for the analysis and coverage of a broad
array of growth stocks and special situations. Areas of research
focus have included industrial technology, including
comprehensive coverage of a variety of bar code-centric
enterprises, security products and services and portable energy,
including the battery industry, where, in addition to analysis of
the major consumer battery manufacturers, Mr. Barry has targeted
an array of emerging industrial battery companies. During his
more than 40 years of investment industry experience, he has been
cited on numerous occasions as an Institutional Investor All-
Star, and has held positions as both Research Analyst and
Research Director at several investment banking firms, including
E.F. Hutton, Rothschild, Inc., and Gerard Klauer Mattison. He

TWST: Would you begin by telling us what you include in yourcoverage?
Mr. Barry: At Bear, Stearns, I am responsible for a category
called Small Companies. A broadly definable category, to be
