Roger H. Brown co-founded Bright Horizons in 1986 and has served as
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since that time. Bright Horizons
manages more than 155 corporate-sponsored child care centers across the
United States for organizations that include the United Nations,
Universal Studios, Merck, Mattel and Motorola . Bright Horizons is
considered the national leader for corporate early education. Prior to
the founding of Bright Horizons, Mr Brown worked as a business
consultant for Bain & Co. He also worked as co-director of Save the
Children relief and development effort in Sudan and has worked on the
border of Thailand with Cambodian refugees for CARE and UNICEF. Mr
Brown is the author of Rice, Rivalry, and Politics: Managing Cambodian
Relief, a book that examines the management of emergency relief efforts.
Mr Brown is the 1996 recipient of the Ernst and Young/USA Today
'Entrepreneur of the Year' in the Service category and was named by
WorkingMother magazine as one of the country's '25 men who have made it
easier for working parents to raise and nurture children.' Bright
Horizons was recently named by Fortune Magazine as one the Best 100
Companies To Work For' in America, and received the Ron Brown Award for
Corporate Leadership. Mr Brown serves on the boards of the Child Care
Action Campaign, National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC) and The Horizons Initiative. He is a graduate of the
Yale school of Management and has a degree in physics from Davidson
