ROBERT S. HILLAS joined Envirogen, Inc., as Chairman, President
and Chief Executive Officer in 1998 after over 25 years as a
venture capitalist and business developer. He joined Envirogen
from E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., where he was a Managing Director
and lead partner for environmental investments. Mr. Hillas has
been engaged in business development in the environmental field
since the mid-1970s. During that time he has worked with
companies in the solid waste, water and wastewater, recycling,
remediation, and analytical fields. Until its acquisition by
Vivendi, Mr. Hillas served as a Director of United States Filter
