Richard Sommer – Medchannel

RICHARD SOMMER, President and CEO of MedChannel, has established a proven track record of achievement as a forward-thinking healthcare entrepreneur. He brings extensive experience in the independent physician association (IPA) market, having co-founded De La Cruz Occupational Healthcare to provide occupational medical and environmental compliance services to Silicon Valley companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Intel, FMC, Applied Materials, Cisco and Netscape. He built the company into a six-clinic operation and later sold it to a physician practice management company. Additionally, Mr. Sommer worked as a management consultant in the Chicago, Paris, and Milan offices of McKinsey & Company, following completion of a business school program in Switzerland. He studied international relations at Princeton University, including a Fellowship in India to study World Bank programs. He attended Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship, completing a Master's degree in International Economics. He received a Law degree from Stanford University, with a focus on healthcare management.
