DR. RICHARD H. DE VOTO is President, Chairman and CEO of Canyon
Resources Corporation, a company involved in the exploration,
production, and sale of precious minerals in the western US and Latin
America. Dr. De Voto has had over 38 years of experience in natural
resource exploration and management and develops and directs the mineral
activities of Canyon. He was a co-founder of Canyon in 1979 and, under
his direction, Canyon formed a series of exploration joint ventures in
the US, Dominican Republic, and Australia which led to several major
gold discoveries. From 1966 to 1987, he was also a Professor of Geology
at the Colorado School of Mines. He received a MSc degree in Civil
Engineering, and a Doctor of Science degree in Geology from the Colorado
School of Mines in 1961. Dr. De Voto is Professor Emeritus of the
Colorado School of Mines, a member of the American Institute of Mining
Metallurgical Engineers and the Geological Society of America, and is a
Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado. He has
