Raymond Warrell Jr. – Genta Incorporated (gnta)

RAYMOND P. WARRELL, JR, MD, MBA., has been President and CEO of Genta Incorporated since December, 1999. Dr. Warrell is internationally known for his expertise in the clinical development of anticancer therapeutics. Previously, he was associated on a full-time basis with the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he held tenured positions as Member, Attending Physician and Associate Physician-in-Chief, and also with the Joan and Sanford Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he was Professor of Medicine. In the past, he served as Consultant to a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including Genta. In 1997, he co-founded PolaRx Biopharmaceuticals, Inc., developers of an investigational agent for the treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia, and served as Chairman of its Scientific Advisory Board. In 1998, he founded Relgen LLC a privately held pharmaceutical company and maker of Ganite_ (gallium nitrate injection), which is approved in the US and Canada for treatment of cancer-related hypercalcemia. Dr. Warrell holds numerous patents for biomedical therapeutic and diagnostic agents, primarily related to treatment of cancer or metabolic bone disease. He is a board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, and has published more than 450 articles, book chapters, and scientific abstracts, most of which are related to development of novel therapeutics in oncology. Dr. Warrell received a BS in Chemistry from Emory University, a MD from the Medical College of Georgia, and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. Profile
