RAYMOND G. SMITH is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Meridian Energy Corporation. Mr. Smith is a Petroleum Engineer with 33
years of industry experience. He graduated from the University of
Wyoming with a BSc (honors) in Petroleum Engineering. Since starting his
career, he has held progressively more responsible positions in
production engineering, drilling, completions and facilities engineering
and management with three large oil and gas companies. Mr. Smith co-
founded Rydal Energy Ltd. in August 1993. In November 1994, Rydal Energy
and New Cache Petroleum Ltd. merged, where Mr. Smith served as President
and Chief Executive officer until the company was sold in January 1999.
Mr. Smith joined Corsair Exploration Ltd. as President and Chief
Executive Officer in July 1999 and held that position until the company
was sold in June 2002. Profile
