Peter Leighton – Vianet Technologies Inc (vntk)

PETER LEIGHTON has served as President and CEO of Vianet Technologies, Inc. since its inception in 1998. With more than 15 years of experience in successful corporate turnarounds in the US, Europe and South America, Mr. Leighton excels in the creation of companies to compete in high- growth industries through acquisitions. Mr. Leighton co-founded Vianet Technologies, formed by merging three companies with complementary products and services, to address the growing Internet multimedia opportunity through a combination of high-performance networking, visual media and data compression technologies. He is responsible for defining the corporate vision; establishing key corporate relationships and channels; positioning the company with the financial and business communities; and managing the financial progress and development of the company. Prior to this, Mr. Leighton was the Chief Executive Officer of Intelect Communications, Inc. from 1989 to 1997, where he was responsible for a series of restructurings, acquisitions, financings and dispositions that transitioned Intelect from the firearms industry to the technology sector. In 1995, the reengineered Savage Arms sold for $37 million, the result of Mr. Leighton's efforts to recover the company from near-bankruptcy in 1989.Between 1984 and 1986, Mr. Leighton managed a number of successful private financial transactions in Brazil in the areas of manufacturing and worldwide distribution of steel products. Mr. Leighton is a chartered accountant of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He earned a bachelor of science degree in Engineering Science from Exeter University in England. Profile
