LEIF SODERBERG is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Strategy, Business Development, and Industry Relations in the Personal Communications Sector of Motorola, Inc. In this role his responsibilities include helping to set the longer-term direction for the cellular and paging businesses; developing acquisitions, alliances, and partnerships; and coordinating the activities for spectrum, standards, and regulatory affairs. He also has general management responsibility for the Sectors consumer two-way radio business and the worldwide accessories business. Mr. Soderberg joined Motorola in April 1993. Since then he has held a variety of operating and staff jobs in Motorolas two-way radio business and Communications Enterprise. This has included running a Network Services business the two-way radio networks owned and operated by Motorola around the world; Group General Manager with responsibility for the design, manufacture, sales and distribution of Motorolas two-way radios in the North and Latin America markets; and running the Systems Solutions Group. Prior to joining Motorola, Mr. Soderberg was a partner with McKinsey & Company, an international management consulting firm. He joined McKinsey in 1978 and worked in their Cleveland and Scandinavian offices on a range of marketing, strategy and operational assignments with clients in the automotive, industrial and electronic industries.
