MICHAEL S. WEISS, has served as Keryx Biopharmaceuticals, Inc.'s
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since December 2002. From March
1999 to December 2002, Mr. Weiss served first as Chief Executive Officer
and Chairman, and then as the Executive Chairman, of ACCESS Oncology,
Inc., a private biotechnology company dedicated to the in-licensing and
development of clinical stage oncology drugs. Previously, from November
1993 to March 1999, Mr. Weiss was Senior Managing Director of Paramount
Capital, Inc., a NASD registered broker-dealer. While at Paramount
Capital, Inc., he successfully engineered the turnaround of Genta,
Incorporated (Nasdaq: GNTA), which grew from a company with a market
capitalization of less than a $5 million dollars into a company with a
market capitalization in excess of $1 billion dollars. Mr. Weiss
currently serves as Vice Chairman of Genta, Inc., and Chairman of ACCESS
Oncology, Inc. Mr. Weiss received a JD from Columbia Law School and a BA
