MICHAEL R. MORAN began his career with Spiegel, Inc. and has been with
the company since 1970. Throughout his tenure, he has held a number of
key posts, including Executive Vice President, General Counsel and
Secretary; Vice President-Ultimate Outlet; Vice President-
Administration; Vice President/Legal and General Counsel; and Treasurer-
Controller. In 1997, he was appointed to the Office of the President.
Currently, he is Chief Legal Officer and Secretary as well as Chairman
of the Office of the President. His primary responsibilities include
working to develop business and financial strategy for The Spiegel
Group, overseeing strategic and financial performance as well as the
objectives of each operating and support division or function in The
Spiegel Group. He provides partnership and support to the Chief
Executives of the operating divisions for maximizing the growth and
financial performance of their brands and concepts. His other
responsibilities include management of the human resources, legal,
public affairs, real estate and credit divisions of The Spiegel Group.
He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of First Consumers
National Bank, a wholly owned Spiegel subsidiary in Beaverton, Oregon.
His professional memberships include the Chicago Bar Association,
American Bar Association, American Corporate Counsel Association and the
American Society of Corporate Secretaries. He is a member of the Board
of Directors of the Illinois Retail Merchants Association, the Better
Business Bureau of Northern Illinois and the National Retail Federation.
Mr. Moran received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of
Illinois, and his Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University in Chicago. Profile
