MICHAEL R. D. ASHTON is the Chief Executive Officer of SkyePharma
Plc. He joined the group in May 1997. His career of 31 years has
been totally dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry. Mr.
Ashton's experience ranges from working with Merck Sharp & Dohme
in Australia and in the US with Merck International and with
Pfizer Inc, where he held a number of senior management positions
in New York and internationally. Prior to joining SkyePharma, he
was with Faulding, Australia's largest pharmaceutical company,
located in the US. As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
that company, he was responsible for building the company to
become well respected in the industry, on NASDAQ and importantly
profitable. With a Bachelor of Pharmacy and MBA Degrees, he
brings to the group a significant amount of pharmaceutical
experience, with a career in big pharmaceutical companies and by
having successfully grown value in smaller companies by building
them into fully integrated pharmaceutical organizations. Profile
