Marvin R. Burt – Burt Associates Inc

MARVIN R. BURT, President of Burt Associates, Incorporated, is a Certified Financial Planner. He holds a Bachelor's degree from UCLA and Master's and Doctorate degrees from The George Washington University, with concentrations in Financial Management and Operations Research. He is a graduate of the College for Financial Planning. Mr. Burt has more than 30 years of financial management and investment experience. He served as a Vice President for a large corporation for two years and has been President of Burt Associates, Incorporated for 25 years. He previously served in the U.S. Executive Office of the President, as a Senior Staff member of the Urban Institute, and a Senior Consultant with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Company. In addition to being President of BAI, Mr. Burt serves as a Consultant in financial planning and investments to 'The Washington Post,' 'Changing Times,' 'The Washington Times,' Channel 7 and Channel 8 News (Washington, D.C.). He wrote a regular column for four years on financial planning and investments. He has frequently been quoted in 'The Washington Post,' 'Changing Times,' 'The Washington Times' and has appeared as a guest on the television show 'The Nation's Business Today' and News Channel 8. He was a participant in 'Barron's Quarterly' 'Big Money Poll' and has been quoted extensively in that publication and in The Wall Street Transcript. Mr. Burt has been an Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University. He has conducted numerous seminars and lectures for various organizations and has authored more than 80 publications including six books. Mr. Burt's memberships include the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors and the Institute of Certified Financial Planners. He served as Vice President of the National Capital Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning and he is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He also was the Dean of the 1995 Institute of Certified Financial Planners Mid- Atlantic Conference. One of his professional articles on sophisticated estate planning was recently published in the 'Journal of Financial Planning.' He is included in 'Who's Who in the East,' 'Who's Who in the World,' 'Who's Who in Finance and Industry' and other biographical publications. Mr. Burt's community activities have included holding a number of church officer, including Chairman of the Board, and playing an active role in community involvement on behalf of neglected and abused children. He has also been actively involved in drug abuse prevention and treatment for nearly 20 years and was appointed by the County Executive to serve as President for 10 years of a nonprofit organization was devoted to conducting research in child abuse and neglect and drug abuse. Mr. Burt was formerly Vice President for Small Business of The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce. He is currently Vice President-Finance of the Avenel Community Association.
