LISA MCKERRACHER is Founding Scientist and Chief Scientific Officer of
Bioaxone Therapeutic, Inc., a private biotech company with a goal to
develop drugs that target Rho signaling in central nervous system
disorders, ophthalmology and cancer. Dr. McKerracher is on leave as
Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Montreal,
and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Neurology/Neurosurgery at
McGill University. Recently she was a co-recipient of the Christopher
Reeve Research Medal with Albert Aguayo for her work on spinal cord
injury. Dr. McKerracher's research efforts are focused on overcoming
barriers to axon regeneration in the central nervous system (CNS), and
promoting neuroprotection in models of eye disease. She identified an
intracellular protein called Rho as a key target for regulating axon
growth in the CNS, leading to the creation of BioAxone Therapeutic Inc.
Dr. McKerracher is a current member of the Advisory Board for the
Institute for Neuroscience, Addiction and Mental Health of the Canadian
Institutes of Health Research. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed
articles in top-notch scientific journals. Dr. McKerracher has been an
invited speaker at many international conferences and symposiums. Profile
