LANCE K. GORDON is President and Chief Executive Officer of VaxGen, Inc.
Dr. Gordon has 25 years of experience in industry, developing both
vaccine products and companies. Prior to joining VaxGen, Dr. Gordon
served as CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of two vaccine
companies, OraVax (now Acambis, Inc.) and North American Vaccines (now
Baxter BioScience). At OraVax, Dr. Gordon secured a contract to develop,
manufacture, store and manage a stockpile of smallpox vaccine for the
Centers for Disease Control. Prior to his tenure at North American
Vaccines, Dr. Gordon was a Medical Director for Infectious and
Inflammatory Diseases at E.R. Squibb & Sons, Inc., and served a seven-
year tenure at Connaught Laboratories, where he was the Director of
Bacterial and Viral Vaccines research. At Connaught he led the
development and regulatory approval of several important childhood
vaccines, including ProHIBit, a bacterial conjugate vaccine widely used
in child vaccination programs worldwide. Dr. Gordon is a member of the
Board of Trustees of the Albert Sabin Vaccine Institute and a member of
the Expert Panel for the Meningitis Vaccine Project (MVP) of the WHO and
PATH. Dr. Gordon received his PhD in Biomedical Science, Immunology from
the University of Connecticut and completed his postdoctoral fellowship
as an NIH fellow at the Division of Allergy and Immunology, Washington

Dr. Gordon: VaxGen is a nine-year-old biotechnology company focusing on
biologics for human infectious
