JOS VERJANS is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of ICOS
Vision Systems Corporation N.V. Mr. Verjans has a Civil Engineering
degree in Electronics and a Ph.D. in Applied Sciences from the Catholic
University of Leuven. From 1970 to 1977, he was a Scientific Researcher
at the ESAT laboratory of the Catholic University of Leuven. He
published several articles in international scientific magazines. His
research focus shifted over these seven years from semiconductor
technology, including the fundamental characteristics of semiconductor
devices, to the design, manufacturing and testing of integrated
circuits. In 1978, he joined Afga-Gevaert, a film maker, where he was
active in the Instrumentation Department for four years. From 1982 to
1984, he was Equipment Manager of the Graphics Division. In 1984, he
joined ICOS N.V., at that time a high tech start-up company, as its
General Manager and as a Director. In 1989, Mr. Verjans with four other
managers of the company and some outside individuals, realized a
friendly management buy-out. From that time on he has also served as
