CHARLES M. BERGER joined Scotts in August 1966 from the H.J. Heinz
Company, where he served as Chairman and CEO of Heinz India Pvt. Ltd.
During his 32-year career at Heinz, he also served as Chairman,
President, and CEO of Weight Watchers International, which grew primary
and franchise sales from $200 million to $1 billion during his term as
CEO (1978-1991). Berger earlier served as product manager for Heinz
Ketchup; General Manager, Marketing for all Heinz grocery products; and
Managing Director of Heinz Italy, the largest Heinz affiliate in Europe.
