John Dobak – Innercool Therapies

JOHN DOBAK, MD, is the Founder/CEO of INNERCOOL Therapies, Inc. INNERCOOL is an early stage company developing a novel therapeutic catheter to treat neurovascular and cardiovascular disease. The company has completed two rounds of venture financing with Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield, and Byers, Institutional Venture Partners, and Technology Partners totaling $13.4 million. Prior to starting INNERCOOL, Dr. Dobak founded CryoGen, Inc., and was the inventor of the CryoGen cryosurgical technology. CryoGen is a medical device company marketing a novel cryosurgical tool for gynecology and cardiac arrhythmia surgery. Dr. Dobak led the development of CryoGen from 1994-1998, raising $20 million in equity and debt financing and government grants. Dr. Dobak remains on the CryoGen Board of Directors and serves as the Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Dobak is a recipient of the 1999 MIT's Technology Review Top 100 innovators of the New Millennium Award, a recipient of the 1999 Russel B. Scott Most Innovative Research Award, and a recipient of the 1999 Medical Device Manufacturers Medical Design Excellence Award. He was also the recipient of an SBIR grant in 1995. He has 12 issued patents and over 15 publications in the medical literature. Dr. Dobak received an MD from the University of California, San Diego, and a BS in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Dobak completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Molecular Biology at the Scripps Research Institute. He subsequently completed an internship in internal medicine at UCLA-Harbor County Hospital. Dr. Dobak is licensed to practice medicine in the state of California. Profile
