John Cavalier – Mapinfo Corporation (maps)

JOHN C. CAVALIER, CEO, MapInfo Corporation. He has led MapInfo as President and CEO since November 1996. Under his leadership, MapInfo has added breadth and depth to its product offering, completed meaningful alliances with major industry players, and improved sales force productivity. MapInfo has sustained a growth strategy that has spanned 15 profitable quarters and is firmly on track to post record revenue and strong earnings per share (EPS) this fiscal year. The company expects to be an anchor for the software industry in New York Capital Region and its new high-tech economy. Prior to joining MapInfo, Mr. Cavalier was President and CEO of the Antares Alliance Group, a Dallas-based application development tool manufacturer jointly owned by EDS and Amdahl Corporation. During his tenure at Antares, Mr. Cavalier spearheaded the integration of existing technology to create an innovative, new application development software tool. He has also served as Vice President and General Manager for the Apple International division of Apple Computer, Inc., responsible for the Americas, Far East and Africa. At Apple, he was also Vice President and General Manager of the Personal Computer Division. In addition, Mr. Cavalier has held CEO positions at four other leading software companies, and worked in general management, sales and marketing positions at American Can Company. He received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Michigan State University. Profile
