JAY K. TAYLOR was appointed President of Placer Dome Inc. on September
14, 1999 and assumed the additional role of Chief Executive Officer on
February 24, 2000. Prior to these appointments, Mr. Taylor was President
and CEO of Placer Dome North America since 1997, and President and CEO
of Placer Dome U.S. Inc. since 1995. In January 1993, he was appointed
President and CEO of Placer Dome Latin America Ltd., in 1992, Executive
Vice President and CEO of Placer Dome Sud America Ltd., and in 1989,
Vice President and General Manager of Compaa Minera Mantos de Oro in
Chile. From 1972 to 1989 he held various engineering and management
positions at the Endako and Gibraltar operations, culminating in the
position of Mine Manager at the Endako mine from 1986 to 1989. He holds
a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering and a Master of
Engineering in Mining from the University of British Columbia. Profile
