JAMES R. HOWARD-TRIPP is President and Chief Executive Officer at
Labopharm Inc. a specialty pharmaceutical company dedicated to
controlled release drug delivery solutions. Mr. Howard-Tripp is a member
of Labopharm's Board of Directors and he also sits on the Board of
ChondroGene Limited. He is Chairman of the Board of Dermacor Inc. Prior
to joining Labopharm Inc., Mr. Howard-Tripp was Senior Vice President,
Operations with Allelix Biopharmaceuticals (now NPS Allelix) and
President and CEO of its subsidiary, Allelix Neuroscience Inc. Previous
to Allelix, he was Vice President, Business Development for Wyeth-Ayerst
Canada Inc., with responsibility for licensing and acquisitions, new
product development and health economics. Mr. Howard-Tripp's career in
pharmaceuticals extends over 25 years and three continents with Miles,
Roussel and Searle, and includes R&D, QA/QC/manufacturing, sales and
sales management, marketing management at both the domestic and
international level, as well as strategic planning and portfolio
management. His business development activities have included
acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, licensing, as well as co-
development and co-selling agreements. He is a founding member and
originating Chairman of the Canadian Healthcare Licensing Association
and has been Chairman of several pharmaceutical industry committees. He
is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Profile
