FREDERICK R. FROMM became President of Oplink Communications, Inc. in July 2000. Mr. Fromm has a 27-year history in the telecommunications industry and has served in various executive capacities for the Siemens Communications Group in both the United States and Germany. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Fromm served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Siemens Information and Communications Networks. Between 1999 and 2000 he also led Optisphere Networks, Inc., a wholly owned spin-off focusing on fiber optic networks. Previously he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Telecom Networks, a telecommunications company that specialized in the design and deployment of central office, ATM and telephony switches. Earlier he led Sales, Marketing and R&D organizations. Prior to joining Siemens, Mr. Fromm was with AT&T Bell Laboratories (now Lucent Technologies). Mr. Fromm received his BS in Applied Science and Engineering and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.
