EDWARD KUNTZ has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Kindred Healthcare, Inc., since January 1999. From 1992 to 1997,
Mr. Kuntz was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Living
Centers of America, a leading long-term healthcare provider in
the United States. After leaving Living Centers, he became an
advisor and consultant to a number of healthcare services and
investment companies and was affiliated with a leading venture
capital firm. Mr. Kuntz began his career in the private practice
of law from 1969 to 1978. He served as Assistant and Associate
General Counsel for ARA Services from 1978 to 1985, when he
became Executive Vice President of ARA Living Centers. Mr. Kuntz
graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and also
received Juris Doctor and Master of Law degrees from Temple
University. Mr. Kuntz has served on several committees and task
forces of the American Health Care Association and most recently
was its national multi-facility vice president and a member of
the executive committee. Mr. Kuntz presently serves as a Director
of the Alliance for Quality Healthcare, a multi-facility long-
term care organization and is also a Director of Rotech, an
Orlando, Florida-based national home healthcare company. Profile
