David V. Goeddel – Tularik Inc (tlrk)

DAVID V. GOEDDEL, PH.D. is a founder of Tularik and has been a director of the Company since its inception. Dr. Goeddel has served as CEO of the Company since April 1996 and as President from April 1996 to December 1997. Dr. Goeddel joined Tularik as Vice President of Research in 1993. From 1978 to 1993, Dr. Goeddel was with Genentech. The first scientist hired at Genentech, Dr., Goeddel most recently held the positions of Genentech Fellow, Staff Scientist and Director of Molecular Biology. His pioneering work in the field of gene cloning and expression research has been the basis for five important marketed therapeutics developed by Genentech, including human insulin, human growth hormone, interferon- a, interferon-g and tPA. Due to his significant contributions in this field, Dr. Goeddel has been elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr., Goeddel has edited two textbooks, published more than 200 scientific papers and received many awards, including the Eli Lilly Award in Biological Chemistry and The Scheele Medal. Dr., Goeddel received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado in 1977 and subsequently performed postdoctoral research at Stanford Research Institute. Profile
