DR. DALE R. PFOST has served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer of Orchid BioSciences, Inc., since November 1996. Prior to
joining Orchid, Dr. Pfost was President and Chief Executive Officer of
Oxford GlycoSciences in the UK, a leader in proteomics and carbohydrate
engineering. Previous to this position, Dr. Pfost founded Infinitek, the
company that developed the Biomek and served as General Manager of the
business unit following its acquisition by SmithKline Beckman. He
obtained his BS in Physics from the University of California Santa
Barbara and his MS and PhD degree in Physics from Brown University. Dr.
Pfost is an inventor with 10 patents and has published numerous
scientific articles in the fields of physics, semiconductors, laboratory
