CHRIS STONE was appointed as Chief Executive in November 1999. He was
charged with providing the leadership and catalyst for the
transformation of the Group to improve overall performance and deliver
shareholder value. Mr Stone joined having spent the last five years in
senior management roles with IT services businesses. The most recent of
these roles was as the Associate Partner at Andersen Consulting,
responsible for the managed services practice for customers in
investment banking and financial exchanges. Mr Stone previously worked
as Managing Director of Operations Management Services with Digital
Equipment Corporation UK, a business that during his time there saw a
turnaround, that took it from declining revenues and profits to
substantial revenue and profit growth within two years. Prior to that he
was European Strategy Marketing Director of EDS, having established his
early career in marketing and strategy with Smith & Nephew and Bain &
