CHRIS KUEBLER is President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Covance. As
Covance's Chairman and CEO, Mr. Kuebler spearheaded the company's spin-
off from Corning Pharmaceutical Services and created one of the world's
largest and most comprehensive contract drug development services
companies. In 1997, the company had revenues of approximately $590
million, operations in more that 17 countries and 6,600 employees
worldwide. Mr. Kuebler joined Covance, formerly Corning Pharmaceutical
Services, as the company's President and CEO in 1994. Under his
leadership, the company has expanded geographically and operationally,
enhanced its capacities and integrated its businesses around the world.
Today, Covance offers its clients a broad array of services at all
points in the entire drug development process including everything from
preclinical testing to clinical and periapproval services. Prior to
joining Covance, Mr. Kuebler spent nearly 20 years in the pharmaceutical
industry. Most recently he held positions of increasing responsibility
at Abbott Laboratories in the company's domestic pharmaceutical division
including Business Unit Director, Vice President of Marketing, and Vice
President of Marketing and Sales. During his last two years at Abbott,
he served as Corporate Vice President of Abbott Europe. Mr. Kuebler
began his career in the pharmaceutical industry in 1975 in various sales
and marketing positions for E.R. Squibb and Sons, now part of Bristol-
Myers Squibb. From 1982 to 1985, he worked at Monsanto Health Care as
part of the company's pharmaceutical acquisition team. Mr. Kuebler has
served as a board member of the National Pharmaceutical Council and a
member of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association
Marketing Steering Committee. He is currently a member of the advisory
committee of PNC Bank Corp. Mr. Kuebler holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in Biological Science from Florida State University. Profile
