Charles Philipps - Chief Executive. Mr. Philipps was appointed Chief Executive in 1999, having joined the Board as Group Finance Director in 1997. A qualified Chartered Accountant, Mr. Philipps joined County Bank (subsequently NatWest Markets) in its Corporate Finance department. While at NatWest Markets, he ran the New York M&A business between 1988 and 1991 and, following his return to the UK, he focused on the financial institutions sector. Thus he was responsible for the Amlins start-up under the name Angerstein Underwriting Trust plc in 1993. He was elected to the Council of Lloyds with effect from 2001, and from 2002 has served as Chairman of the Lloyds Market Associations Capital Committee. Profile
