Carlton Donaway – Airborne Inc (abf)

CARLTON D. DONAWAY is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Airborne, Inc. He began his career with Airborne in 1977 as Operations Supervisor in Los Angeles. He became a Sales Representative the following year, and in 1979 was promoted to Operations Manager for the Los Angeles area. In 1980 he moved to the position of Los Angeles Station Manager before being transferred to Minneapolis where he served as District Operations Manager for the Midwest. Mr. Donaway was promoted to District Sales Manager for the same region in 1985. In 1987, Mr. Donaway relocated to Airborne's corporate headquarters in Seattle to serve as Marketing Development Director, then as Customer Support Director the following year. He was named Vice President, Customer Support in 1990 and became Vice President, Business Analysis in 1992. Mr. Donaway was promoted to President of Airborne's airline subsidiary, ABX Air, that same year, and then was promoted to Senior Executive Vice President of Field and Air Services in 1999. Mr. Donaway was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer in August 2000. In February 2002 he became Airborne's President and Chief Executive Officer. In April 2002 he assumed additional duties as Airborne's Chairman of the Board. He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Northridge. Profile

Mr. Donaway: Airborne actually dates back to the mid 1940s when

it was shipping fresh
