DR. BURTON J. KUNIK serves as Chairman, President and CEO of Sharps
Compliance Inc., providing companies with logistical solutions for the
containment and disposal of medical waste. SCI was founded in 1994 and,
as President, he oversees all of the company's day-to-day business. Dr.
Kunik entered the medical waste industry in 1989 when he formed his
first medical waste management and disposal company, 3CI Complete
Compliance Corporation. He is active in the medical waste industry,
having served on the Board of the Environmental Industry Association
(EIA) and as Chairman of the Medical Waste Institute, a division of the
Environmental Industry Association. His interest in medical waste
developed after working for more than 20 years as a dentist
(endodontist). While practicing in the dentistry profession, he served
as either President, Vice President, Council Chairman and/or on the
Board of Directors of many professional and civic organizations,
including the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Texas Dental
Association Council, the American Dental Association and the American
Association of Endodontics. Profile
TWST: Could you give a brief overview and history of the company, andyour involvement with it?
Dr. Kunik: My professional background is dentistry, but I left the
profession in 1989 to start
