BRIAN BEVERLEY founded Mentor Systems in 1978 , the largest software
supplier to the construction industry. Following Mentor's acquisition by
Misys in 1989 he became Chairman of the Open Systems Division within
Misys. He left Misys in 1992 after an approach to turnaround an MRP
software house, subsequently he privately bought a struggling network
systems provider, Communications Systems Limited in the Channel Islands
and the Isle of Man. Having turned CSL into a highly profitable
organisation it was purchased by a listed company. In summer 1999 he was
introduced to Simon Beart who had many years experience in running a
large PLC, which had just been acquired and the idea was formed to
