DR. ATUL M. MEHTA is Founder and President of Elite Laboratories, Inc.,
a wholly owned subsidiary of Elite Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a company
specializing in the formulation and process development of oral
controlled-release dosage forms. Dr. Mehta received a Bachelor's of
Science degree in Pharmacy; a Master's degree in Industrial Pharmacy and
a Doctorate of Philosophy in Pharmaceuticals from the University of
Maryland in 1981. He was associated with Ayerst Laboratories from 1981
to 1984 in the solid formulations group as Group Leader. His
responsibilities included the development of formulations of ethical
drugs for conventional and controlled release dosage forms both for the
United States and international markets. From 1984 to 1989, he was Vice
President at Nortec Development Associates, Inc. His responsibilities
included the development of pharmaceutical, food, and chemical specialty
products. The products developed by Dr. Mehta at Nortec have been
commercialialized in the United States and international markets. Dr.
Mehta is a Registered Pharmacist in the state of Maryland. He is a
member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, American Association
of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Controlled Release Society, Regulatory
Affairs Professional Society, Licensing Executive Society, and Rho Chi
Honor Society. His formulation development activities have resulted in
the issuance of 10 US Patents. Dr. Mehta is cited in American Men and
